Mr. Guest's business practice complements his estate planning practice.
He uses his knowledge on business matters in formulating estate plans for business
owners of family enterprises to include appropriate provisions for transferring the
ownership of the business to other individuals. He helps client structure business
organizations and agreements to protect surviving members against adverse estate tax
consequences. His advice also includes assistance with all facets of small business
formation and operation, including the buying and selling of businesses, and the
review of negotiation of contracts.
Mr. Guest's professional background include working at two large international
law firms, a national general contracting company and a small human resources start-up
that provides a diverse experience to his practice. Mr. Guest graduated from the Johns Hopkins
University with a B.S. in Civil Engineering and was a letter winner on the football team.
Mr. Guest earned his J.D. from George Washington University Law School.
Mr. Guest believes that being active in community affairs is an
important part of an attorney's responsibility to give back to the
community. Mr. Guest has captained an American Diabetes Association
team the last 7 years raising over $150,000 and is a committee member
on the Washington D.C. chapter of the American Diabetes Association's
Step Out Fundraising Committee.
Mr. Guest is a member of the Bar of the District of Columbia, the
State of New York Bar, the Bar for the Commonwealth of Virginia,
State of Maryland and the United States Court of Appeals for the
Federal Circuit. He is a member of the 2012-13 Steering Committee
for the Estates, Trusts and Probate section for the D.C. Bar. He
belongs to the American Bar Association, the Arlington Chamber of
Commerce, McLean Estate Planning Council and the Prince William
Estate Planning Council. He is a public notary in the District of
Columbia, Maryland and Virginia. Mr. Guest is a registered patent
attorney and eligible to practice before the United States Patent
and Trademark Office.
He resides with his wife, two children and dog in Arlington, Virginia.
